Debby is a member of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers and the Clarksville Area Art Guild in Arkansas. She lives with her husband and daughters in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas.

This book was over priced, $3.00 would have been more appropriate! It is more like a pamphlet of this lady's opinions on her favorite beads. The only information she gave was EXTREMELY BASIC and can be found for free on the internet. I am terribly disappointed and wish I could get the money back so that I could actually buy something useful to lampworking. She covered that there are different size mandrels, there are cheap beads made in China and how to tell the difference (why, if I'm making my own, do I need to know this...?), what her favorite beads were and how much she paid, listed a few web addresses, told that not all glasses are compatible (but not which ones), listed a few different kinds of glass, showed pictures of a handfull of things people had made with their beads and showed a few molds. That is the extent of this pamphlet; it isn't even big enough to be considered a book. I have just made a contribution to her hobby with my $13. This book is NOT INFORMATIVE at all! I was a beginner bead maker when I purchased this book. It's a very informative book. I still use it for reference.
Please don't pay for this book. It barely 30 pages of information about buying lampwork. What a joke. Looks like the author is getting rich off of those of us who did not have better information or enough people complaining about the price or information. She would be better to have just put pictures in the book. The name is misleading.

There are a lot of lampwork books out there, so I wondered what the author would cover that hadn't already been done. Quite a bit, as it turns out.Her information is geared toward bead buyers. They often fall in love with art glass beads and buy them, but aren't quite sure what to do with them. The author answers that question in depth.The book also does a great job of teaching what qualities to look for when buying lampwork and the reasons artist made beads cost so much more than mass produced beads. Many bead lovers unfortunately have to learn this the hard (and expensive!) way.If I'd had this book when I first started buying lampwork it would have saved me from buying a lot of poor quality beads. Now, as a beadmaker I'll use this book as a tool to educate my customers.The only complaint I have is that the photos are too small to get a good look at the beads. :-)
